Write the rules down before the first payment
The clubs that last are the ones that settle hard questions while everyone is still friendly. A single page is enough. Share it with every member and get each one to say they agree before anyone pays.
- The amount, the rhythm, the due date and the payout date.
- How the turn order is decided.
- What counts as late, and what happens then.
- What happens if someone wants to leave before or after their turn.
- How the rules themselves can be changed — for example, a vote where most members must agree.
02
Make the turn order fair — and visible
A draw done openly, with everyone present or on a group call, removes any suspicion that the organiser favoured friends. If you allocate turns by need instead, agree that openly too.
Once set, the order should not change without the agreement of the members affected. On Money Club the order is shown to the whole club alongside the payout schedule.
03
A late-payment rule everyone can live with
Late payments cause more friction than almost anything else. A good rule is specific, small and applied to everyone, including the organiser.
- A short grace period, for example two days after the due date.
- A modest, fixed late fee that goes into the pot — not to the organiser.
- A clear point at which the club meets to discuss a member who keeps paying late.
- Money Club shows late contributions to the whole club today. Automatic late fees and grace days are coming soon; until then, write your rule in the club description.
04
Transparency is the organiser’s best protection
Organisers carry most of the suspicion when anything goes wrong. The best protection is never holding the money yourself and letting every member see the same record.
On Money Club, contributions are paid from each member’s Safely wallet and payouts land in the recipient’s Safely wallet; the organiser never holds the cash, and every payment is recorded against the club.
05
When there is a dispute
Start with the record, not with memories. Most disagreements are settled by looking at who paid what and when. If it cannot be settled within the club, report it from the club page and our team will look at the full record with you.
- Talk to the member privately first.
- Bring it to the whole group only if it is not resolved.
- Apply the written rule — the same way you would for anyone else.
